Presentation on Dictionaries 4 Life

Jeff Sirs has spearheaded our club’s involvement in the Dictionaries 4 Life (D4L) for several years. The program gives quality dictionaries to Grade 3 students free of charge. It generates a great sense of pride and ownership for the students, many of whom are immigrants and learning English as a second language. A sticker identifying our club is placed on the inside cover.

For a few years we have been giving dictionaries to the Charles H Hulse school. Jeff commented that many clubs are more involved than we are and that we may want to increase our budget and include another school, or perhaps the Wabano Cultural centre.

We will be presenting the dictionaries to students in October, so stay tuned for the opportunity to be involved.

President Joan ended the meeting promptly at 1:30pm.

Jeff Sirs and Britt Hesmer pose with on of the dictionaries from the D4L program.
