  • This luncheon meeting was designated to discuss fundraising.

  • Luigi Maiorino held a Membership Committee meeting which generated several good ideas to impact meetings and communication as well as recruitment. Stay tuned.

  • Mahamud Elmi reminded us of the Somali Hope Foundation gala supper on April 4. Tickets are $100; this is the main fundraiser that pays for the education of 688 students in Bursalah, Somalia, including the school and 20 teachers.

Happy Bucks

Mahamud was both graceful and gracious as he made his way around the conference table collecting our happy thoughts and loonies.

50/50

Staying centre-stage, Mahamud managed the 50/50 draw. Peter had the winning ticket, but Joker remains decked and Peter was docked.

Club Business

Some notes form the discussion:

We have a strong golf committee again this year, but it is important that all members take a stake in making this a particularly good event. Our main fundraising event by far, it can be even better if everyone sells a couple more Tee signs and sources items for the silent auction.

There was talk of other potential fundraisers, and members will look into a gala dinner and speaker as a fall event.

Wesley Clover Parks and the National Capital Car Show are anxious to work with RCOS, plans are to make that a significant and reliable annual event.

President Alex ended the meeting promptly at 1:30pm.

RCOS members discus fundraising during a club business meeting.

  • Jacques Laquerre updated us on his son's health. Rob has received chemo treatments and is doing better. Our thoughts and good wishes for health go out to him.

  • Joan Hunter updated us on the golf committee: Tomlinson is no longer a sponsor but is planning on putting in a foursome. All members should be looking for auction items and tee sign sponsors.

  • Somali Hope Foundation gala supper on April 4. Tickets are $100, see Joan.

  • Speaker next week is physiotherapist Ivan Vukosavljevic, who will be talking about Aging and Movement.

Happy Bucks

Rosemary Parker shared smiles for tales of gratitude and loonies.

50/50

Rosemary remained afoot and looked after the 50/50 draw. Carlo had the winning ticket, but came up empty-handed when looking for that elusive Joker. The pot continues to grow at $270.

With no guest speaker today, we enjoyed catching up, conversation and club conundrums. in President Alex's absence, President-elect Joan banged the gavel and decorum slipped away faster than most members.
