Announcements

  • Welcome Stephen and Bruce! We welcomed Bruce Bayne and Stephen Campbell at their first meeting as official members.
  • Community Blend Coffee  Our primary focus right now is golf, but please continue to sip (and sell) and support. Take photos as you sip your community Blend, post and tag us.
  • District Conference 22. Katei and Scott gave a quick summary of district Conference events. The sessions were very well planned and presented. The keynote by Dr. Vera Etches was very impressive. Afterwards she was presented with a Paul Harris pin. The calibre of all sessions was quite high, very informative and engaging. Julie Cugalj was part of a compelling session on Friday night sharing her mental health journey. David Oliver had to go to Montreal on Saturday, but still made it for the dinner and reception.
  • We were pleased to see Vik at lunch and to hear that his mother is doing better.

RCOS Earns Bronze Environmental Certification

District 7040 has established Environmental Sustainability Commitment Awards and the Rotary Club of Ottawa South is one of only 10 clubs to qualify.

We've been awarded a Bronze Certification for 2022. The awards are progressive, i.e. you have to earn Bronze before Silver, before Gold. So for the inaugural year, Bronze is like first place!

Kudos to Sherri and the Environment Committee. We'll support you in achieving Silver certification next year!

At right, President Dave Gough and Environment Committee representative Kateri Clark present our certificate.

Golf, golf, golf!

On the heels of a golf committee meeting chaired by Jonny Kung, Chris Meechan provided an update and game plan for moving forward with our golf tournament.

He emphasized that this is not the same golf tournament of years past. We've had two years of pandemic, and we're still dealing with the reality of pandemic living. It's a transitional year that is setting a new foundation for golf tournaments going forward.

The RCOS golf tournament can no longer rely on a handful of committed and well-connected individuals. It requires the entire club contributing and working to make this a great experience for all involved.

Foursome sales are progressing well, and that momentum will benefit from your input. Tee signs in particular need a strong push now. Please reach out to any business owners or potential sponsors; only $150 to have their name prominently displayed at a tee. Also ask for possible auction items. An product service, gift card... any desirable item valued at $100 or more.

Less than a month to go, so help now. make some calls today and be a hero tomorrow.

The Community Blend coffee website is live; share the link, share the love, sell the coffee.

Next week is our General Assembly at KS on the Keys: Wednesday, May 18 @ 6:30pm.
