Two special guests joined us today - Jan Draper, our guest speaker (friend of David Oliver) and John Gough, Dave Gough's son.
As discussed last meeting we reinstated 'Happy Bucks'. Lots of happy stories about travel, Easter activities and time with family.
Our guest speaker Jan Draper, is a retired teacher but continues to teach English to Chinese students online and also teaches creative writing workshops via Zoom.
She spoke to us about her work with the Ministry of Education in Guyana. The mission of the Ministry of Education in Guyana is to eliminate illiteracy, modernize Education and strengthen tolerance. Jan's work included teaching the Amerindians about the prevention and treatment of malaria, she trained youth to become community organizers and she helped with preserving the culture and traditions of the indigenous peoples. Jan has a varied and rich background and we were delighted to meet her and hear a small part of her life's work.
