Announcements.
Dawn reminded members of the election for officers and directors to be held at the RCOS Annual Meeting on Dec. 16.
Gary & Julia spoke about the Ottawa Rotary Syrian Refugee activities. Julia offered tickets ($100 each) for a draw for a trip for 2 to The Masters Golf Tournament. Gary (was cheaper) asking members to take books of 10 tickets ($5 each or $10 for 3) to sell for a Turkey Raffle. He managed to distribute all the books he had.
Dawn reminded members that Scott had sent out an email regarding the Salvation Army Xmas Kettle at Loblaws, South Keys, on Saturday Dec. 12. Apparently some had difficulty opening the email and so were encouraged to contact Scott if they were intending to do duty that day.
Jonny is looking for volunteers for Salvation Xmas Hampers on Dec 18, 1pm-4pm. at Salvation Army on Walkley. Rosemary is our contact.
Peter has sent out an email about the RCOS Family Xmas Brunch at KS on the Keys on Saturday Dec. 19, 10am-2pm. Please refer to the email for instructions regarding gifts for children you are bringing to the event.
Reminder that there will NOT be meetings on Wednesday Dec. 23rd or 30th.
The first 2 meetings in January will Strategic Planning sessions.

50/50 Draw
Julia conducted the draw and Joan had the winning ticket but, because the pot wasn't big enough (she won $800+ a few weeks ago), drew 6 of Hearts.
There was a second draw for CDs that our guest speaker brought. Julia won them!

Happy Bucks
Ian gathered the Happy Bucks. Everyone was happy including our potential member, Edith. (A good sign!).

Programme
Dawn introduced her employer, Dr. Dirk Keenan, a chiropractor. Dirk has been a member of the West Ottawa RC since 1997. His is the oldest chiropractic clinic in Ottawa having been started by his father. He explained that the goal is disease prevention using treatment and restoration of health in those who are not feeling well and who have not progressed to require drugs or surgery.
Dirk outlined 5 antecedents to good health:
- Good nutrition using an anti-inflammatory diet.
- Exercise with minimum of moving (e.g. walking) 30 minutes/day and resistance training once/week.
- Rest and recreation. Good sleep, as well as at least 1 week vacation every 3 months.
- Optimal nerve system function.
- Positive mental attitude.
The thanks of the club were expressed by Peter.

Dawn closed the meeting at 1:25.
