August 14, 2024, Baxter Conservation Area and Zero-Waste Picnic

We had a delightful evening at Baxter Conservation Area in Kars. Diane Downey, Director of Communications and Outreach, along with Dan Cooper, RVCA Director of Conservation Lands, guided us through the newly inaugurated accessible bridge. Opened officially in June, the bridge spans 100 metres and features two expansive educational platforms. It meets the highest standards of accessible design, boasting a 10-foot-wide deck, sight-lines suitable for individuals using wheelchairs or strollers, gentle inclines, handrails, and benches. The project was ambitious but was accomplished with excellence. Now, the Baxter Conservation Area can be appreciated by visitors of all ages and abilities.
