It was a pleasure to host Ella Matheson, Fund Development Coordinator of Multifaith Housing Initiative, at our meeting today. Ella's enthusiasm was evident in her excellent presentation. 

 

Ella discussed the organization's mission to provide safe and affordable housing for low-income families. The organization has grown significantly since its inception in 2001, with 80 member faith groups and 422 rental units across nine communities.  She also highlighted the urgent need for affordable housing, particularly for indigenous people. She showed us plans of the new affordable housing development, which is being built at 665 Albert Street, in partnership with Toronto-based real estate developer, Dream. The development is located near the Pimisi Train Station and the new Ottawa library. It aims to provide a harmonious living environment for residents. The project has 608 units in total, with 133 owned and operated by the Multifaith Housing Initiative with plans to dedicate 30 units to indigenous households.
