Programme.
Bernie introduced John Ouellette, VP of ORCF.
John thanked RCOS for years of support through the golf tournament. He outlined what our funds had supported. He then introduced Denis Raymond to tell his story. Denis, a school teacher, started having headaches over 2 years ago at the age of 26. Investigation showed he had a mass in the right frontal lobe of his brain which was a stage 4 glioblastoma which has a median survival of around 1 year. He had 6 weeks of radiation then started a clinical trial, partly funded by ORCF. Basically, it involves wearing electrodes on his scalp which create alternating magnetic fields on his brain by way of a 15lb battery pack which he carries with him at all times. These magnetic fields destroy the malignant cells. He has been using the device for 2 years without any sign of recurrence. The cost? - $21K/month!! Luckily for Denis, the cost is borne by the research trial.
Denis answered questions and then was thanked by Jeff.
A cheque for $25,000 was then presented to John representing the donation to ORCF from the 2015 golf tour
