Dawn told members that, at yesterday's Board meeting, a commitment was made for RCOS to participate in Adventure in Citizenship and RYLA in 2016.
Dawn asked for nominations for the Officers of RCOS for the year 2016-17. Elections will take place at December 16 meeting.
Julia gave an update on the Ottawa areas Rotary Club's Syrian refugee response.
Rosemary said that the Salvation Army Christmas hampers date is December 18th. Sam noted that Giant Tiger has donated $3000 and is giving 10% discount.
Scott confirmed that RCOS wants to participate in Salvation Army Christmas Kettles but the date has no been established yet. He will send out email, including sign-up schedule, when he knows the final details.

Programme
Scott introduced our guest speaker, Wendell, who had spent 20 years in the Naval Reserve in his earlier days but relatively recently retired from Foreign Affairs. He belongs to the Naval Association of Canada. The roles of the Canadian Navy are to control our home waters; national security; provide aid and assistance at the time of natural disasters; and to provide high value jobs and modern technology in Canada. He gave as examples the response to the earthquake in Haiti and policing the seas for piracy at the Horn of Africa. He outlined the plans to build new vessels over the next 20 years.
Hector expressed the thanks of the club.
Dawn closed the meeting at 1:35.
