Our goal in Rotary is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase literacy. One of the ways we support education for all children and literacy for children is Dictionaries for Life.
On Tuesday, November 7 four Rotarians from Rotary Ottawa South delivered beautifully illustrated dictionaries to Grade 3 students at Charles Hulse School. A great afternoon and the children were thrilled to have their very own dictionary. The four Rotarians had lots of fun too!
They talk to the students about Rotary, and the kinds of projects we might be involved in here in our community and internationally. The looks of delight as the students receive their dictionary and print their name in it are what make this visit to the school so worthwhile. We also practise using the dictionaries.
Students and the teaching staff at the school are always appreciative
